Influence of corner angle in streamwise supersonic corner flow

چکیده
We use the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations with a full Reynolds stress model (RSM) to study effect of corner angle in supersonic flow. RANS data are compared reference direct numerical simulation fully developed square duct flow, which support predictive capability secondary flows from Stress-ω RSM. then carry out parametric by changing range θ = 45 °– 135 °, focusing on mean streamwise and The maximum strength about 0.015 u ∞ occurs for 90 is similar what found ducts. Sensitivity to base-flow variation of a streamwise corner flow
The stability of flow formed by intersection of two perpendicular flatplates is revisited through a study of the sensitivity to the base flow variation. After a brief presentation of the asymptotic regime, sensitivity functions underlying corner mode (concentrated close to the intersection) and Tollmien-Schlichting modes, with different obliqueness angles, are computed. With this consideration,...
متن کاملAlternating Flow in a Moving Corner.
Recent experiments have shown that rapid kinematic mixing occurs in the pulmonary alveoli. Here the Reynolds number is very small, there is recirculation in the alveolar cavity and the alveolar walls move periodically. We have recently shown that non-diffusing particles move chaotically in a two-dimensional model flow with the above features. In parts of the lung, however, there is asynchrony b...
متن کاملCorner flow in free liquid films
A lubrication-flow model for a free film in a corner is presented. The model, written in the hyperbolic coordinate system ξ = x2 − y2, η = 2xy, applies to films that are thin in the η-direction. The lubrication approximation yields two coupled evolution equations for the film thickness and the velocity field which, to lowest order, describes plug flow in the hyperbolic coordinates. A free film ...
متن کاملNovel visual illusions related to Vasarely's 'nested squares' show that corner salience varies with corner angle.
Vasarely's 'nested-squares' illusion shows that 90 degrees corners can be more salient perceptually than straight edges. On the basis of this illusion we have developed a novel visual illusion, the 'Alternating Brightness Star', which shows that sharp corners are more salient than shallow corners (an effect we call 'corner angle salience variation') and that the same corner can be perceived as ...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Shock-Wave/Boundary/Layer Interactions in a Hypersonic Compression Corner Flow
Numerical results are presented for the shock-boundary layer interactions in a hypersonic flow over a sharp leading edge compression corner. In this study, a second- order Godunov type scheme based on solving a Generalized Riemann Problem (GRP) at each cell interface is used to solve thin shear layer approximation of laminar Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations. The calculated flow-field shows general...
